Volunteer In-person

Three Rivers Library has a limited number of volunteer opportunities available and submission of an application does not guarantee hours. In-person volunteers may be asked to do a variety of tasks, including but not limited to program set-up/clean up; preparing for programs or services by cutting, folding, sorting, etc;  general library upkeep, such as dusting, pulling books for weeding; or other appropriate tasks.

While we will try our best to accommodate volunteers, we do not guarantee the ability to complete all hours required. If you are 17 years or younger, a parent or legal guardian must come in to sign a consent form. If you have other questions or concerns about in-person volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Parker at parkerl@trpld.org or 815-467-6200 x307.

Virtual Volunteer

Need more hours or need hours that are flexible? Virtual Volunteers may choose from a variety of tasks that can be completed from home, including but not limited to tutorials, lists, videos, reviews, and more. Virtual volunteering is available year-round for ages 13 years+. (Virtual volunteer hours do not count toward court-appointed community service hours)

    • Virtual hours earned will be tallied during the season and signed off at the end of each quarter. You will receive an email with your earned hours for the season.  If you have an official form that needs physically signed, you'll need to stop by the library after you've received the email, for us to sign your form.

If you require hours in a shorter time-frame than presented, please contact us at info@trpld.org for other options.

      Seasons are:

      Jan-March

      April-May

      June-August

      September-December

    • You'll always receive some time for completing a project. Our staff will review each project and award the amount of hours based on the project guidelines, effort, and creativity.

Want to earn the maximum amount of hours?  Make sure you are following the instructions and be creative! If the project has options, such as choosing to complete a list or a video, you do not have to choose video to earn the maximum amount of hours.

    • If you are unable to upload your files within the form, you can also email your project to info@trpld.org.

Be sure to include your name and the name of the project you are submitting so we can give you your proper volunteer credit.

Example: Jane Doe - Craft Video Submission - Mac & Cheese

    • Absolutely! You do not have to film yourself for your video. If you are doing a tutorial, for example, film your hands doing the project. Search online for examples of similar projects for inspiration.

    • Email us!  We'll be happy to answer your questions. Send us an email at info@trpld.org with the subject as "Virtual Volunteer" and we'll get back to you asap.  If you need an immediate answer, please contact our volunteer coordinator at 815-467-6200 x307.

    • Yes, you can have friends and family members help you complete a project, such as help you film a video. However, only the person turning the project in will receive credit unless other arrangements have been made with us before completing the project.

    • Depending on the type of project, we may allow collaborations where more than 1 person can receive volunteer credit on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to do this, please be sure to contact us in advance for approval. To be considered, all parties wanting to receive volunteer credit must have filled out the virtual volunteer application and have been accepted. Email us at info@trpld.org with the following information:

      • project type
      • basic idea
      • names of all volunteers who wish to earn volunteer credit
    • You do not need to have a library card to volunteer. You do not need to live within our library district to earn volunteer hours.
