Book Club in a Bag

Looking for an easy way to start a book discussion?

Try a Book Club in a Bag from Three Rivers Public Library District!  Book Club in a Bag is a self-contained kit that you can use to start your own book club or for use at the book club you already attend. Each kit contains typically seven copies of a title, along with information about the author and book, including discussion questions, packaged together into a sturdy, carry-all bag. 

If you are interested in reserving one of these kits for your book club, you can place a hold in our online catalog or stop in at either library at Channahon 815-467-6200 or Minooka at 815-467-1600.

. What is a Book Club in a Bag?

Book Club in a Bag is a kit specifically designed for book discussion groups. Each kit includes a book discussion guide and 5-7 copies of the book, with large print and audiobook editions included when available. Some kits contain a DVD of the film adaption. E-book and/or e-audio versions may be available from our media services, Overdrive, Boundless, and Hoopla. For more information about the contents of a specific Book Club in a Bag kit, please view it in the catalog using the links above or contact the Adult Services Department via phone or email.

2. Who can check out the Book Club in a Bag?

Any patron with a library card in good standing can check out Book Club in a Bag kits.

3. How can I check out a Book Club in a Bag?

Book Club in a Bag kits are currently housed at the Channahon Library. If you would like to pick up your Book Club in a Bag kit at the Minooka Branch, please place a hold through the PrairieCat online catalog and select "Three Rivers Minooka" as your pickup location. Please see question 6 for more information.

4. How long can a Book Club in a Bag kit be borrowed?

Book Club in a Bag kits can be checked out for up to 6 weeks.

5. Am I able to renew a Book Club in a Bag kit?

Unfortunately, these kits cannot be renewed beyond the maximum check out time of 6 weeks.

6. Can I reserve a Book Club in a Bag kit?

Yes, you can reserve a kit by using the "Place Hold" feature in the online catalog or by calling either library. Please have your library card number available if you plan to reserve by phone.
