Curbside Pick Up


Search the catalog and place holds on items.

If you need help placing a hold, email or call the library: Channahon 815-467-6200 or Minooka 815-467-1600.

When your holds are ready, you will be notified via email, text, or phone, per your specifications.  Please be sure to bring your library card or picture ID to show to staff at your car window before you receive your items.


CHANNAHON LIBRARY: Monday-Saturday- 9am-7pm, Sunday 1-5pm

MINOOKA BRANCH: Monday-Saturday- 10am-7pm, Sunday 1-5pm

CHANNAHON LIBRARY:  Enter at the west end of the parking lot.  Follow the signs to pull up to the side of the building.  STAY in a SINGLE CAR LINE and CALL THE LIBRARY to let us know you are in line, 815-467-6200. WAIT IN YOUR CAR.

MINOOKA BRANCH:  Enter via the normal entrance off Wabena Ave.  Pull up next to the curbside signs along the parking lot.  STAY in a SINGLE CAR LINE and CALL THE LIBRARY to let us know you are in line, 815-467-1600. WAIT IN YOUR CAR.

MOVE FORWARD IN LINE BUT STAY IN YOUR CAR. Hold your library card or picture ID to your closed car window so staff can verify your identity for pick up of materials.

Open your trunk or roll down your back seat window so staff can put your items in your vehicle. 

*If you have materials to return, please return them in the book drop before or after you get in line for pick up.  Staff will not be able to take library materials at the vehicle.


  • Items returned in the drops will be quarantined for at least 3 days before being checked in and removed from your account. Late fees will be waived.
  • Please DO NOT TRY TO DISINFECT YOUR MATERIALS at home. It will damage them.

    • Unlike restaurants or retail stores who offer consumables, the library's materials circulate out to patrons’ homes, back to the library, and out again. We don’t know how patrons are using our materials once they get them home and whether or not anyone in that home has COVID-19 or been exposed to someone who has COVID-19. Because of that, all materials upon their return will need to be handled by staff wearing the appropriate safety equipment and then quarantined for a period of time before that material can be checked out to another individual. It is imperative that we have systems, equipment, and supplies in place that we can comfortably believe minimize the risks to the people handling those materials.

    • There are still no definitive guidelines on how long the COVID-19 virus can live on various types of materials. Depending on the medium, the virus appears to live anywhere from 24 hours to several days. We are currently waiting on the results from studies conducted by Batelle Laboratories in conjunction with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and OCLC on how long the virus lives on specific types of library materials under real-life library situations and conditions.  Current guidelines recommend three day quarantine for all materials.

    • At this point, we do not know when the building will reopen to the public. Library staff have been and will continue to prepare the building to reflect our new reality: limiting access into and out of the building, removal of seating to discourage gatherings, installing sneeze guards at all public service desks, marking the floors to show appropriate social distancing, instituting special hours for high risk populations, etc.

    • As of now, all library programming continues to be virtual. Library staff are hard at work to develop a great Summer Reading Program that will incorporate virtual programming but also provide activities families can do outdoors, and some take-away activities and no touch programming.
